Brand new to the marketing game and feeling overwhelmed by how you’re going to stand out in a sea of sameness? I’ve been there – and I get it! I put together my top 5 tips to help you stand out from the competition in a way that feels AUTHENTICALLY you. Read on so you can start standing out like the shining star you are!

1. Be authentic and real

Let’s clear something up right off the bat. People choose to do business with people. So one of the best ways to stand out in crowded market is to simply be yourself. I know it sounds simple, but that really is it! Don’t try to just imitate others that you see being successful. While it’s totally fine to want to strive for their level of success, if you’re simply trying to be like someone else, there will be no differentiation factor between you and  the person you’re trying to be like. 2. Let your strengths shine

This goes along with being yourself – but a great way to differentiate yourself is to identify your top strengths and lead with this in your marketing. Figure out the strengths that come naturally to you and play those up!

3. Find your points of differentiation

The best way to find out your points of differentiation is to develop a unique selling proposition. Here’s a quick definition for you, according to the balance: “how your business, product or service is different from that of your competition. It identifies what makes your business the better choice, and why your target clients should choose you over the competition.”

Research your competition, find out what they’re doing, and make it super clear to your ideal clients why your product or service will benefit them in a different/better way than the competition.

4. Tell your story

Every brand has a story, and the great part about developing your story is that even in competitive market, no one else will have the same story you do. This goes back to my first point – people do business with people. 5. Provide value so you become a thought leader

Another great way to stand out in a crowded market is to provide value for your ideal clients! Share your knowledge on your topic freely – you can do this through blogs, social media, video, podcast – whatever makes sense for your brand. Talk about what you know about your topic often, share your thoughts and provide value, and you’ll begin to stand out in the crowd.
