Are you just getting started on creating your brand and wondering how you can grow it more quickly? A few weeks ago I went over what a brand all encompasses, but now I have some brand-building strategies to help you create a superstar brand!

1. Be visible

One of the best ways to create awareness of your brand is to show up where your ideal client is hanging out! Engage in groups on social media, create and share interesting content, and consider investing in paid advertising to begin building an email list so you can communicate with your ideal clients directly.

2. Tell your story

If you want to become a memorable brand, you need to be real. Share how you got into business in the first place and what inspired you to get started. People connect to stories, and if you can show that you’ve been in their shoes before, they’re more likely to relate to you. 3. Provide value consistently

When you’re working on growing your brand, one of the most important things to remember is that you’re working to build relationships. Part of this is providing a lot of value regularly. I like to use the 80/20 rule, especially on social media. Meaning 80% of the content I share is value-driven, and only 20% is promotional. People are much more likely to engage with your brand when you aren’t trying to shove your products or services down their throat!

4. Be targeted in your approach

When creating content, whether it be blog posts, advertisements, or social media posts, make sure that it’s prepared with your ideal client in mind. Don’t try to be a “Gill of all trades” and be everything to everyone. You should be super clear on WHO you are serving and WHAT they need. This becomes all the more important when using paid advertising, as you don’t want to be paying for clicks from people who aren’t your ideal clients.

5. Pay attention to your ROI and adjust as needed

When looking at the return on investment of your advertising and marketing efforts, don’t get caught up in “vanity” metrics. By this I’m referring to likes or comments on a posts with no conversions (such as vising your website, opting in to your email list, or purchasing). While engagement can be great social proof, it isn’t the ultimate goal. For tips on learning what’s working and what’s not, check out my blog on the art of split testing.

6. Create a freebie

When you’re first starting out as a new business, you want to provide amazing FREE content upfront so people learn who you are and what they can expect from you. It might seem counter intuitive to give something away for free, but it’s actually a way for your ideal client to get to know you and how you work. If they see how much value you’re giving away for free, they’ll be that much more likely to buy from you and get even MORE value. Examples of freebies could include a cheat sheet, checklist, free training, video series, how to guide, webinar, etc. Always ask for an email address to deliver your freebie to so you’re also growing your email list along with your brand.

7. Have a unique brand personality

One of the biggest challenges new biz owners have when building their business is figuring out how to stand out in a crowded market. And while it might seem simple, the best way to do this is to lead with your personality. 8. Guest post

If you are already maintaining a blog, than consider expanding your blogging efforts to other publications by offering to guest post. Usually you can include a bio with a link to your website, which is a great way to increase visibility to new audiences while improving your SEO.

9. Become an authority in your field

When you become an authority in your field, you’re not only providing a ton of value to others, you are also able to catch the attention of your target audience. This not only helps your build great relationships and credibility, but will help you attract more clients. 10. Build partnerships

I’m sure you have some biz crushes out there, so work on building a relationship with them! One of the best ways to build your brand up is to look to partner with other brands that will complement yours and reach out to see how you could work together. Here’s some ideas on how to build relationships with influencers: don’t go into it by asking for a favour. Instead, share some of their content with your audience, send a personalized note letting them know you appreciate the content they share, or join a conversation that they’re active in.
